Charlotte's Web

Today we finished Charlotte's Web book and we got to watch the movie of Charlotte's Web. It was very  sad when Charlotte died. It was good that Wilbur won first.

BEAR!!!!

Did you know we have a class pet? Well, today I am going to talk about Bear. Bear is hilarious and silly!  What Bear likes to do is usually fill up his tunnel, sleep and eat. But the funniest part is when we clean his cage--he throws a big tantrum! To Mrs. Harris it sounds like, "No, they stole my food!!!'" And that is Bear.

Dave and Busters!!!!

Today we went to Dave & Buster's and we learned a lot of things. We learned that there was a game place named David's and a restaurant named Buster's. They decided to combine their ideas and they named it Dave & Buster's so the people that came can eat and the kids can play games. We went to different places and at the end we got to play games. WE had a BLAST and had fun.

Mrs.Pendery

Today Mrs.Pendery told us about Career Day!!!! We chose from different types of jobs like a chef, web designer, actor/actress, and so many more. I told myself that I want to be a teacher like Mrs. Harris (I'll be a math teacher). And May 23 is Career Day. So you might want to choose what you want to be when you grow up.

Science research project

Today Mrs. Harris told us that we are starting a science project. I chose K.R. and N.G. as my partners. We are researching the environment of some landmarks, what animals live there, if it is rocky or if there are no bumps.

The Rodeo

Today our class went to the rodeo. We saw: bronco riding, barrel racing, team roping and bullriding. We saw a clown dance which was funny. Our teacher was put in a shark cage which was cool. The class had the greatest time in the whole school year! After the events we got autographs of the professional cowboys and cowgirls.

By E.M. and R.M.

(Teacher Note: Not a REAL shark cage; it is a cage they lower on the arena and you sit inside to view the bull riding--see the second picture. It was a very fun experience!)

The 4th Grade Test

The competition is on; our class is trying to beat the the other classes in 4th grade. If we do [which we will] we will have a day that is going to be spectacular. We will probably play a fun game of Kickball or have a game day. So we are crossing our fingers that we will win and have the day that we will rule 4th grade. Let's do this!

by E.H

(Teacher's note: We took our physical science benchmark today. I have enticed my class all year with the reward of a kickball game {I of course play with them :) }or a game day if we can have a higher passing percentage rate of the three fourth grade classes at our school. We always seem to come in second. This is their last chance. We'll have to see how they did!)

Charlotte's Web

Today my group read Charlotte's Web. Charlotte told Wilbur that she has a plan for Mr.Zuckerman to kill Wilbur. Wilbur felt safe when she said that. He went to eat his left overs. My whole class hopes that Wilbur survives.

The Science Review of Mrs. Harris's Class

The race is on to see which side or table can do their best to see who remembers the most physical science for the science benchmark on May 8th. Everyone wants to emerge victorious. Everyone is possibly nervous because physical science is a pretty hard subject.

Charlotte's Web

I forgot to have a student blog for us today, so I will give you an update. In case you did not pick up on the reference in my first post, we are studying Charlotte's Web in reading and language arts right now. The students are loving it! Today we read Chapter 6 which is where the goslings hatch. We had our first vocabulary quiz (I haven't graded these yet--we'll see how we did!). In math, we are rockin' adding and subtracting fractions. And in science, we analyzed the eating habits of some of our classmates over the past day. We realized that most of us need to eat more vegetables! We also did some review for our physical science benchmark next week. Some of us have sixth six-weeks-itis, but the learning is continuing!

A New Beginning

Salutations! A few years ago, I began a blog for my class. I would post updates on what was happening and parents always seemed to enjoy it. For some reason (I think it was life in general), I stopped using my blog. My hope is to begin a new one with a little different format. I am going to have my students post each day. I might add my own thought or two :), but I want this to be their avenue to share with their parents what is happening each day at school. For those of you who are not associated with my class but just happen to find this, I hope you will find the learning that occurs in my classroom to be practical, spontaneous (at times), entertaining (often), and engaging. Thank you for following our journey!
